The answers below hold for every IN YOUR FACE show at ROBIN’s. Shows at other venues say so on their own page. Anything else: harry@inyourfacecomedy.ch.

Is the show in English?

Yes. Every set, every show. The comedians are Swiss-based and visiting, and the room is full of people who moved here last month and people who were born here. No Swiss German needed.

What is a comedy open mic?

The testing ground for jokes. Comedians with years on stage try new material next to someone doing their first five minutes. About ten acts a night, five to ten minutes each. Some bits land, some do not, and watching a joke get born is the fun of it.

Will it be funny?

Mostly. An open mic goes up and down by design: a pro on a roll, a first-timer who surprises everyone, the odd glorious mess. People come back because no two Thursdays are the same.

Do I need a ticket in advance?

Please buy one on Eventfrog before you come. The link is on every show page. We are setting up the room before the show, and selling at the door holds up the start for everyone. If seats are left we will sell you one, but busy nights sell out.

Where do I sit?

First come, first served. Doors open half an hour before the first comedian: get a drink, pick a seat, settle in. The front rows are the best seats in the house and the comedians are nicer than you think.

Is there food?

ROBIN’s serves drinks only. For a bite before the show, Restaurant Johanniter next door does classic Swiss food and Holy Cow across the street does burgers.

Will the comedians pick on me?

They chat with the room for laughs, not for blood. If you would rather be left alone, sit a few rows back and look busy with your drink.

How long is the show?

Most shows at ROBIN’s run about two hours with a break in the middle. The exact times are on the show page and the ticket page. Comedy Brew, our Thursday open mic, opens its doors at 19:30 and is done by 22:00, in time for the last trams.

What age is it for?

All ages are welcome. We recommend 16 and over: adult themes and some language.

Will I be filmed?

Comedians often record their own sets, and the audience can appear in those recordings. By coming to a show you accept that you may be filmed or photographed. If something with you in it turns up online and you would rather it did not, write to harry@inyourfacecomedy.ch and we will take it down.

Can I perform?

Yes. Spots at the open mic are booked ahead, never on the night. How to get on stage.

How do I get to ROBIN’s?

ROBIN’s, Zähringerstrasse 33, 8001 Zürich, two minutes from the Central tram stop and five from the main station. Directions on Google Maps.
